详细说明

Express Scripts is committed to following, promoting and implementing sustainable business practices as we serve the needs of our clients, patients and employees.

Our initiatives in 2012 included:

Reducing business travel by encouraging electronic collaboration and document sharing. We now provide videoconferencing equipment and screen-sharing at all of our locations.

Diminishing waste by creating an electronic company newsletter that eliminated 30,000 printed copies. Every new employee receives an insulated cup to reduce use of disposable cups.

Driving Out Pharmacy Waste:  Our employees continually analyze data from hundreds of millions of prescriptions and they apply their insights to new solutions that benefit clients, members and the environment. For example, we learned that packaging for prescription drugs was not optimal, so we took the lead in using smaller bottles in our home delivery pharmacy. By using the right bottle for a specific prescription, we reduced material use and fuel needs, saving money and resources.

Recycling programs, Recycling programs, including patent-pending technology to securely dispose of and recycle prescription bottles. We have also implemented company-wide recycling of paper, computers, batteries and electronics.

LEED-certified “green” headquarters buildings, constructed for environmental excellence. Our buildings are designed to reduce greenhouse emissions and feature white roofing materials and low-flow plumbing to reduce the use of energy and natural resources. Almost all of the steel, carpet-tile backing and other building materials are recycled or renewable.

Energizing UMSL and the Missouri Botanical Gardens

To generate electricity from sunlight, Express Scripts funded solar panels for select buildings on the University of Missouri-St. Louis (UMSL) campus and the Missouri Botanical Gardens. Part of an overall strategy to reduce energy use, the roof of UMSL’s Mark Twain building now produces electricity equal to the amount used in four homes. The 100 rooftop solar panels at the Missouri Botanical Gardens will generate an estimated 870,000 kilowatt hours of power while displacing 800 tons of carbon monoxide over their 30-year lifespan.

Express Scripts is constantly looking for ways to reduce waste and energy use to ensure a sustainable future and make the world a better place.
