POSITIONTITLE: China ChemicalSafety Manager
POSITION SUMMARY: Managesthe development and implementation of chemical and fire safety for theregion. Responsibilities will includemanaging relationships with agencies, monitoring regulatory and legislativeinitiatives, and overseeing audit operations.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Supervises staff to include hiring, training,evaluating performance, providing compensation recommendations, and determiningdisciplinary actions when necessary.
Leads the development, implementation, and administration of Chemicalsafety and fire prevention programs for China
Develops and implements internal HSE audit, training, and investigationprocesses and procedures.
Manages a variety of investigations, analyses, and research thatrequires specialized knowledge in several HSE areas, develops reports andfindings, and approves operational changes.
Manages relationships and the effective flow of information withregulatory agencies, plants, attorneys, and other effected parties; overseesinvestigations and audits, and negotiates resolutions when required.
Manages the collection of a variety of information, performs varioustests and analyses, and completes appropriate logs and documentation.
Monitors regulatory and legislative initiatives, reviews outcomes, andassists with determining appropriate actions to ensure compliance and maintainefficient operations.
Serves as a technical liaison to management regarding various HSEprograms, conditions, and operations.
Performs other duties asassigned.
Specific Job Functions:
- Develop best management practices for chemical handling for plants, laboratories
- Act as resources for questions on how to handle chemicals safely, test for exposure to chemicals, and methods to prevent overexposure
3. Manage system to provide safe handling data for all raw materials
4. Leads fire prevention programs and efforts for region
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Eight years of progressive HSE experience, including four years ofsupervisory and broad oversight of HSE programs.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent education andexperience.
SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
- PC skills; Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook);
- Supervising and evaluating employees;
- Managing comprehensive health, safety, and environmental programs across operations;
- Applying specialized technical knowledge in several areas of health, safety, and environmental issues;
- Developing and implementing comprehensive programs, policies, and procedures;
- Interpreting and applying applicable laws, rules, and regulations;
- Managing relationships between agencies, attorneys, and other parties;
- Analyzing and researching information and determining actions;
- Communicating with co-workers to provide and receive direction.
- At least 6 years EHS experience and 3 years manager position in Chemical industry
- Fluent in English, both in oral and written
