SPAN International Training LLC Safety Workshops provides training to prepare safety professionals for the various certification examinations offered by the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP).

Professional Certifications Increase Earning Potential

The BCSP database provides compensation information gathered from survey information received voluntarily from individuals holding the CSP certification, as well as those with the OHST, and CHST certifications and/or the designation of ASP.

Based on a comparison of data in this study and data from other salary studies for safety practitioners, salaries of those holding the CSP are often higher than those in safety practice who do not hold the CSP.

We Offer A Different Approach

Our workshops offer a different technique. We begin our program with a three day preparatory session in the classroom where we define the scope of the exam; illustrate the complexity of problems to be encountered; review basic math, science and calculator skills; discuss test strategy; examine reference materials and present a model home study program. In our workshops, you are provided with a 650 page professionally publiSHEd two-volume workbook.

Like the traditional method of studying for these examinations, our workbooks use a "testing" format. During each workshop, we work and discuss about 350 questions typical of those encountered on the examination. Our questions come complete with explanations, not just answers, and all the explanations are keyed to the same reference material suggested by the BCSP. This allows our students to gain an understanding of the subject rather than attempting to memorize an impossible number of questions and answers. These workshops are 24 hours in duration.

Workshop Guarantee

The criteria for designation as a Certified Safety Professional are extremely high. Applicants must have a degree and at least four years of professional safety experience. With these high standards, why has the failure rate on the CSP exams been so high? The Safety Fundamentals exam failure rate has historically been about 50%!

We believe the reason for the high failure rates is because examinees have failed to understand the scope and complexity of the test, have relied on incomplete and misleading study material, and have used a shotgun approach in preparation for the exam.

Our instructors are experts in their field and our internationally recognized curriculum is based on SPAN's complete library of exam reference materials. If you take the ASP, CSP, CHST and OHST and do not pass, you can retake the same workshop for FREE*!

*If you take an examination applicable to one of our three-day preparation workshops within one year of attending our workshop and do not pass, you can retake the same workshop for free. This is subject only to the workshop being offered and the workshop having the capacity for additional students

Instructors

Daniel J. Snyder, M.Ed, CSP, CHMM, CET, OHST, CHST, STS holds a B.A. in Science and a M.Ed. in Adult Education with specialization in Human Resource. He has over 18 years of diverse international experience as a safety consultant and has served in leadership roles for the American Society of Safety Engineers, National Safety Council, National Response Plan and US Army Military Intelligence.

He is the founder of the Performance Based Safety Network delivering world class safety consulting services. Currently Mr. Snyder serves on the Board of Directors for the Alliance of Hazardous Materials Professionals and is a Managing Partner for SPAN International Training. E-mail

David L. Wheeler, CSP, CRSP, OHST, CHST has a B.S. in Occupational Education, with a specialization in Environmental Technologies. He has over thirty years experience in the Environmental, Safety and Health field, of which ten years were spent as an Department of Defense Hazardous Waste Manager for a RCRA Part B facility. He is the senior instructor and has been a curriculum designer for Span International Training, LLC since 2001 for the ASP, CSP, OHST and CHST preparation courses.
